Corvette Fordite Angular Spike Necklace
Handcrafted necklace in Sterling silver with a stunning large Corvette Fordite Cabochon set in a fine silver bezel. A piece of US Auto history, Fordite is the name given to vintage car paint that built up in thick layers on vehicle transport racks during the 1950’s to 1980’s. When the paint build up became too thick, it was removed from the racks, and legend had it that some auto workers took it home with them and carved it into shapes, revealing the hundreds of colorful layers. Though Fordite originated at the Ford Motor Co factory, other US car companies picked up the practice. This piece comes from a factory that produced Corvettes. It’s a unique, asymmetric triangle with a long spike like tapered point. With hand stamped detail and silver granule clusters at the top of the stone. Oxidized finish. Comes hung on an 18” Sterling Silver chain.
